Okayyyy so... I can honestly say I've been working on this all day. I sat down to start working on this around 1 ish, and finished about 8:30.
Fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff
So
Much
Detail

Mostly in the scales and shading, as well as the battle scene in the bottom corner there. That little corner probably took me 2 hours.
So yeah, this is basically that story thing I sketched out a few days ago :XD: or part of the opening scenario anyway. For some reason I just really felt like drawing it... and then my brain said "Imma add so much detail cuz I wanna know just how far I can push my artistic limit".
Worst idea ever :noes:
Oh gawd those scales! I drew them all one by one! Ffffffffffffff most exasperating thing everrrrrrrrrrrrr. For some reason it's much more fun to do on paper. In photoshop? Gawd no, that was murderrrrrrr
Like In the hour or so it took me to make those scales, I took a break twice and at one point was literally pacing in front of the computer like "I don't wanna do this oh lord I dont wanna".
Scales T-T
And they don't even look that good! Siiiiiiiiiiiigh. I was going for roundabout the effect Fourth-Star has with her scales. But when I tried to replicate it, something went wonky. Instead of a snake-like sheen, it looks more like a dryer reptile with bumpy scales. Or even a toad. Don't get me wrong, it looks okay. I'm not completely bashing it. It just wasn't what I wanted :XD:

Well, I guess I'll chock this up as a learning experience and go doodle something less brain-frying.

All right. *cracks knuckles* I think I've finally got enough time to type this up.

First off, this is so visually stunning and gorgeous. The attention to detail is fanominal (is that how you spell it?) and I can't think I can properly express how awed I am by this. I think this is one of your best pieces of art.

I'm also quite excited to see more scenes from this new book of yours ;D Heh heh. But no, really, I think this really sets the mood for the story, and just from looking at it, you don't know that good from the bad. Just like the story would, I'm guessing, blur the lines between the prejudices of good and bad the two races hold against each other. If that makes any sense, I'm sort of in a weird writing mood x'D

I love the attention to detail, as said before. Of course there's the amazing scales and the wonderfully shadowed teeth on her scales, but then there's the whole background scene going on as well. People are dying behind her, and you can see the anger plastered on her face. There's a war going on below them, and you can see the frantic bodies on the ground and the machines catching fire. Super neat :D

Critique? Lawl, you're going to hate me for saying this, but the only really critique I could give this piece is more detail. (I warned you you'd hate me ;D ) As by that, I don't mean the two dragons breathing fire in the lower right corner, nor do I mean that lower right corner at all. I mean the few dragons that are right behind our protagonist here.I wouldn't need much detail to be satisfied, but maybe just a little so you can see the different dragons and their struggle against the humans. Buuuuut I doubt you'd want to spend another full day on those little dragon friends in the background x'D

That being said, I still think this is a fabulous piece. I really love the scales on her, too. Yes, a few of them look upraised, but I don't think that's a bad thing. I'd think certain scales on a dragon's body might be a little thicker and upraised. ^-^

Well done, Legend! Clap
